What to Expect from

Do Division

Music House will be hosting the Do Division Kids Stage on Haddon and Damen (1059 N Damen Ave).

  • Do Division has a suggested entrance donation of $10

  • If there is rain during the time of your scheduled performance, the performance time may be adjusted or canceled.  We will keep you updated. 

  • There will be a variety of entertainment for families of all ages at the festival!

What to bring:

Bring your instrument, straps, picks and drum sticks!  Music House will provide all amps, cables, drums, and keyboards.

Schedule

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to performance time to tune up and warm up!

1:30pm-4:30pm: Club Music House Performances by Private Lesson Rock Students

4:30-5:00pm: Vocal Ensemble (call time 4:30pm)

Studio Ensemble Showcase

What to Expect from the

Studio Ensemble Showcase

What to bring:

  • If you are in Rock Band: Bring your instrument and music (if needed). 

  • If you are in Orchestra:  Bring your instrument and music

  • If you are in Dance Company: Bring your water bottle and ballet shoes.

  • If you are in Vocal Ensemble: Bring your music and a water bottle

Student Attire:

Studio Ensembles Members should represent their ensemble professionally by dressing as a team. Discuss what this looks like with your teacher, and reference the below details. Please dress the part, and present yourself for an audience!

  • Dance Company: assigned costumes, hair styled as instructed

  • Orchestra: all black, including shoes. This is standard Orchestra Wear, and it will help the orchestra become a cohesive ensemble. We recommend “Concert Attire” that is always available in your closet so you are always ready for a performance! Consider purchasing new black shoes and clothes to have in your closet for performance day.

  • Vocal Ensemble: your teacher will discuss options to ensure you are performance ready and present as a cohesive ensemble!

  • Rock Ensemble: your teacher will discuss options to ensure you are performance ready and present as a cohesive ensemble!

What to Expect from the

Classical Solo Recitals

Confirming Your Child’s Concert Details:

Students sign up with their private lesson teacher. You will receive an email confirming your child’s performance time. Your student’s information will also be displayed in your Jackrabbit portal.

Accompaniment Rehearsals:

Sign up for an accompaniment rehearsal if you are performing with piano accompaniment (you will receive an email with information on how to sign up!). Read about the benefits of performing with piano accompaniment here!

Recital Etiquette:

Student: 

  • Attire: Wear something that you are comfortable performing in, and that makes you feel special and more formal!

  • Practice taking a bow! Bowing is a way to tell the audience “thank you” for listening. 

  • Read more about how to prepare for a performance!

Audience: 

  • Please refrain from using flash photography, as it can be distracting to the performers 

  • Please be as quiet as possible during the performances, but be sure to give a loud and encouraging round of applause before and after performances!

Saturday May 3rd

West Rogers Park Studio: Performances at 4:00pm, 5:15pm, and 6:30pm

Students should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the West Rogers Park Studio concert.

Saturday May 4th

ChiArts: Performances at 10am, 11:30am, 1:30pm, 3:00pm, and 4:30pm

Students should arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the ChiArts concert.

Parent/Student Entrances
Parents may drop off their child at the entrance by the Cortez cul-de-sac (located a few feet east of auditorium doors) 20 minutes before the recital time, so students can go straight backstage to warm up and get tuned. A teacher will be at the door to check students in. Parents must take students' belongings and instrument cases with them, and enter through the theater doors (located in the parking lot). We will have signs directing students and parents to the correct entrance.

Students will join the audience after they perform to watch the rest of the concert. Please save a seat for them so they can sit near you for the remainder of the program! Students/Families are expected to stay the entire performance.
