The weekend of June 13th-15th is the Puerto Rican Festival and Parade in the Humboldt Park neighborhood. The parade is on Saturday, June 14th starting from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Division between Sacramento and Campbell. This event was scheduled after we scheduled our Musical Theater Performances at ChiArts. This festival is very popular and will be well attended. We strongly suggest you allow extra travel time. We have reached out to the Alderperson's office and they have provided the statement below as well as the graphic.
Cortez and Augusta will not be impacted by street closures. I've attached a graphic for you below. The majority of street closures will be in effect on Saturday, the day of the parade. Access to your parking lot should not be obstructed. CPD will be working intensely on traffic flow in the area, however, as you may know from the past few years, congestion in the area can be pretty significant so advance travel time is advised.
After further conversation with the parade organizers, we can confirm that parking restrictions and street closures will be in effect on Augusta from California to Sacramento on Saturday, June 14th. However, these will only be in effect west of California, and parking and street access to Cortez will still be open via California.
Unfortunately, CPD will not allow any special access to blocked streets during street closures for public safety reasons. The parade will start at noon on Saturday 6/14 and should be done by 2pm.
We hope that this information will help. According to the map, it appears that the best route will be Augusta > go north on California from Augusta > and then east on Cortez to reach the ChiArts parking lot.
Please note that the graphic includes planned closures. It is possible there may be additional closures so please plan accordingly.
