Music House Recommends: Chicago Kid-Friendly Summer Music & Dance Concerts

Music: 

Ravinia Kids Concert Series: Select dates June 18th - August 20th, 2022

While Ravinia Festival is best known for their evening outdoor concerts, they also host a variety of kids concerts during the day! Concerts this season include performances by the Chicago Sinfonietta, Laurie Berkner, and Justin Roberts. 

Millennium Park Concert Series: Select Mondays and Thursdays, June 20th - August 18th, 2022, Free

This concert series hosts an incredible array of musical genres! All concerts are free and outdoors.

Grant Park Music Festival: Select Weekends, June 14th - August 20th, 2022, Free

These free outdoor concerts at Jay Pritzker Pavilion are a perfect way to introduce your little one (or older child!) to classical music! Children are able to enjoy the music without needing to sit still or stay quiet. They’re free to dance, move around, and snack, all while enjoying high quality classical music! 

Dance: 

Chicago SummerDance Series: Select Wednesdays - Saturdays through September 17th, 2022, Free

Every summer, the Chicago Park District hosts free summer dance classes throughout the parks! From Bachata to Steppin’, there’s a dance class for everyone! The event culminates with a SummerDance Celebration on National Dance Day (September 17th, 2022) at Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park. 

Dance In the Parks: Select Weekdays through July 29th, 2022, Free

Dance In The Parks brings professional dance performances to Chicago neighborhood parks! Every week features a different dance company and style, including contemporary, jazz, and modern.

Catch Music House Performers at: 

Pitchfork: July 15-17th at Union Park

Music House is hosting the Kids Zone at Pitchfork! Relax in the shade while your child jams on musical instruments, paints with friends on a collaborative mural, and more!

Mini Fest: August 14th 10am-4pm (Music House performers 3pm-4pm)

Music House Orchestra, High School Chamber Ensemble, and Dance Company will be performing at Mini Fest! Mini Fest takes place at 404 N. Armour St.

Music House’s Back-To-School Backyard Fest : Sunday, August 28th 12-4:15pm, Free (with suggested donation)

That’s right – we’re bringing Backyard Fest back for an end of summer/start of school year celebration! Come enjoy a family concert by Jan, and see performances by Orchestra, Musical Theater, Dance Company, and more!

This event will take place at our Music House Humboldt Park Studio, in the Yard (1018 N California Ave).
