Music House Vendor Privacy Statement

Music House, Inc respects our school and organizational partners, students, and families and we understand the responsibility to protect the children we are entrusted with. As a Chicago Public School Vendor, Music House, Inc takes responsibility to both support the effective use of student information and safeguard student privacy and information security.

Music House, Inc supports schools, including their teachers, students, and families, to manage student Data, carry out school operations, support instruction and learning opportunities, and develop and improve products/services intended for educational/school use. Student Personally Identifiable Information also referred to in this document as “Data”, is provided by students, their parents, and their schools; and should be used to serve and support students’ best interests.

We pledge to carry out responsible stewardship and appropriate use of Student Data according to the commitments below and in adherence to all laws applicable to us as School Service Providers.

Music House Pledge to Protect Student Data

  • Music House, Inc will not collect, maintain, use or share Student Data beyond that needed for authorized educational/school purposes, or as authorized by the parent/student.

  • Music House, Inc will not sell Student Data.

  • Music House, Inc will not use or disclose student information collected through an educational/school service (whether personal information or otherwise) for behavioral targeting of advertisements to students.

  • Music House, Inc will not build a personal profile of a student other than for supporting authorized educational/school purposes or as authorized by the school, organization, parent, or guardian.

  • Music House, Inc will not make material changes to the Music House, Inc vendor privacy policies without first providing prominent notice to the Chicago Public Schools or host organization when the information is collected directly from the student with student/parent consent) and allowing them choices before Data is used in any manner inconsistent with terms they were initially provided; and not make material changes to other policies or practices governing the use of Student Data that are inconsistent with contractual requirements.

  • Music House, Inc will not knowingly retain Student Data beyond the period required to support the authorized educational/school purposes, or as authorized by the parent/student.

  • Music House will collect, use, share, and retain Student Data only for purposes for which we were authorized by the educational institution/agency, teacher or the parent/student.

  • We will disclose clearly in contracts or privacy policies, including in a manner easy for institutions and parents to find and understand, what types of student data we collect, if any, and the purposes for which the information we maintain is used or shared with third parties.

  • Music House, Inc will support access to and correction of student data by the student or their authorized parent or guardian, either by assisting the educational institution in meeting its requirements or directly when the information is collected directly from the student with student/parent consent/

  • Music House, Inc will redact and destroy any student data provided following the culmination of the services provided, and share that procedure with the schools and CPS.

    Data collected would likely be used to connect students to technology such as arts related digital media, websites, and/or online platforms. CPSArts and the school arts liaison may be consulted regarding vendor-approved digital platforms including GarageBand, Chrome Music Lab, Library of Congress, etc before using digital platforms that would require student usernames and logins.

    Any data collected will be used for a variety of educational purposes including:

    • Promoting active learning

    • Connecting students to online resources

    • Analyzing student performance for immediate feedback

    • Automating processes such as attendance and grading

    • Offering assistive technology options

    • Developing life skills that form critical foundations for future success

Music House agrees to adhere to signed contracts and to the CPS SOPPA policies and Illinois law.

In addition:

  • Music House, Inc will maintain a comprehensive security program that is reasonably designed to protect the security, confidentiality, and integrity of Student Data against risks – such as unauthorized access or use, or unintended or inappropriate disclosure –through the use of administrative, technological, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.

  • Music House, Inc will provide resources to support educational institutions/agencies, teachers, or parents/students to protect the security and privacy of Student Data while using the educational service.

  • Music House, Inc will require that our teaching artists, supervisors, and/or employees with whom student data is shared to deliver the educational service, if any, are obligated to follow these same commitments for the given Student Data.

  • Music House, Inc will allow a successor entity to maintain the Student Data, in the case of our merger or acquisition by another entity, provided the successor entity is subject to these same commitments for the previously collected Student Data.

  • Music House, Inc will incorporate privacy and security when developing or improving our educational products, tools, and services and comply with applicable laws.

  • Music House, Inc will conduct training and require teaching artists and employees to agree to all aforementioned precautions.
