Stay Inspired This Summer!

We are so inspired from this past month of performances! What an incredible showcase of hard work and dedication – we could not be more proud.

We encourage you and your child to take a moment to reflect together on your performance experiences. What did these performances mean to you? Did you feel invigorated? Inspired? Were you in the zone, lost in the performance and unaware of the audience? Or did you stay completely tuned into the audience, feeding off of their energy? How did you feel in the moments before you stepped onstage? What about immediately after? Are you excited to do it again?

Even though your performance may have only lasted a couple of minutes (or even less!), you can still feel a whole range of intense emotions and adrenaline during that time! And you may now be wondering, “When can I do it again?”

This summer, we are offering performance opportunities and classes to stay inspired and keep the momentum going!

What ways can you stay inspired this summer?

Dance:

Perform with Music House Dance Company: The mission of Music House Dance Company (MHDC) is to provide dancers a community in which they can grow their artistry as performers beyond what they do in their weekly classes by providing additional performance and learning opportunities.

Talk to your teacher for more information, and to see if this class is right for you!

Strings

Join Suzuki Playdown class (violin) : Were you inspired by the Suzuki Violin Playdown at Backyard Fest this month? We’ll be hosting these playdown classes throughout the summer! Suzuki Playdowns are a great way to polish and elevate review pieces, learn ensemble skills, and join a community of other violinists with a common repertoire. They are also important stepping stones toward Suzuki Graduations (where you perform an entire polished Suzuki book from memory)!

This class is free for all violinists enrolled in private lessons. Register here!

Audition for Orchestra (violin, viola, cello): Are you an intermediate/advanced (Suzuki Book 2 or beyond) student working on note reading? In orchestra class, you’ll hone your note reading and ensemble skills, and learn how to be part of a team. Orchestra will be meeting on Tuesdays 6-7:00pm at our Humboldt Park Studio.

Interested in auditioning? Fill out this form to schedule a time to audition the week of June 13th!

Audition for High School Chamber Ensemble (violin, viola, cello): This ensemble is for high school students who are proficient in note-reading. It is a small group ensemble focused on building community with other high school students, ownership over your individual part, and improving skills in preparation for high school orchestra in the fall. Chamber Ensemble will be meeting on Tuesdays 7-8:00pm at our Humboldt Park Studio.

Interested in auditioning? Fill out this form to schedule a time to audition the week of June 13th!

Rock Band:

Join Summer Rock Band (guitar, bass, keyboard, drums): Mr. Tommy will be teaching rock band at our Humboldt Park studio on Mondays 6-7:00pm beginning on July 11th! Rock band participants will be invited to perform at West Fest and Mini Fest.

This class is open to any private lesson guitar, bass, keyboard, or drum student. Register for Summer Rock Band here!

Musical Theater:

Audition for Summer Musical Revue (ages 8+): Learn songs, choreography and monologues from a wide array of Broadway shows this summer! The class will culminate in a performance on the Music House Humboldt Park stage!

Register for A Musical Revue: Broadway in the Yard (ages 8+)

Audition for Drama and Performance Class (ages 4-7): Learn and practice the art of performance, story-telling, and character development using Aesop Fables, Fairy Tales, and Folk Tales to spark imagination. How does the sneaky fox walk? How does the nervous owl fly? What makes the witch angry? Let’s find out together this Summer! The class will culminate in a performance on the Music House Humboldt Park stage!

Register for Fables, Fairy Tales, and Folk Tales (ages 4-7)
