Alex Levatter
Alex Levatter (she/they) is a classically-trained violinist, a violin teacher, and a post-sound mixer. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, she studied violin with Aimee Kreston at the Colburn School of Music. In addition to performing regularly in orchestras and string quartets across Los Angeles, Alex was a founding member of San Fernando Valley Strings, a violin group that held charitable performances at schools for underprivileged youth and at retirement communities.
After winning a competitive scholarship from the National Association of Negro Musicians, Alex went on to study with Danielle Belen at the University of Michigan and performed with the Sphinx Young Artist Orchestra. She received her B.M. in Violin Performance & Performing Arts Management from the University of Michigan’s School of Music Theater & Dance. Alex currently resides in Chicago, where she is working on her Master’s Degree in Film & Sound Design at Northwestern University. She plans to connect her love of sound design with her passion for performance, creating scores that bring fantastical films to life. Outside of Northwestern, Alex runs a vibrant private violin studio in Chicago and continues to perform across the Midwest and the West Coast.
