Shawn Lent
Shawn Lent (she/her) moves this world as a dance educator and choreographer with 31+ years experience locally and internationally. She holds certifications in Youth Protection in Dance, First Aid/CPR AED, Mental Health First Aid, and Integrative Dance (supporting dancers with disabilities). She is honored to have been a U.S. Fulbright Scholar to Egypt 2012-2013, a United Nations Alliance of Civilizations International Fellow, the 2014 Commencement Speaker for Millikin University, the Education USA Egypt Coordinator (U.S. Department of State) 2013-2015, and the Arts Integration Program Specialist for Columbia College Chicago 2006-2012. She currently serves as the Programs and Communications Director for Chicago Dancemakers Forum, project lead for Dance Peace, Arts Committee Lead for World Refugee Day Chicago, dance instructor for Yachad/Ralla Klepak Program, and a guest lecturer for dance programs around the country including Brigham Young University, Maryland University, West Virginia University, SUNY Purchase, Hope College, Columbia College Chicago, Chapman University, and Northwestern University. Shawn has also worked with Hanna Sacks Bais Yaakov High School, Chicago Women Charity Players, and the Illinois chapter of the National Dance Education Organization. Shawn holds a Masters degree in Arts + Youth and Community Development along with her B.F.A. in Theatre/Dance. In addition to teaching at the West Rogers Park studio, she serves at Music House’s Manager of Dance Education.
