About Mr. Tommaso:
Mr. Tommaso is an experienced and engaging drum teacher and early childhood music educator, bringing a globally informed perspective to his teaching. He has performed at major international festivals including the North Sea Jazz Festival, Chicago Jazz Festival, Winter Jazz Fest in New York, and festivals across Europe and South America.
His teaching is deeply rooted in Music Learning Theory (MLT) and the concept of audiation—the ability to hear and understand music internally. Mr. Tommaso believes that music is best learned like a language, through listening, imitation, and active participation before focusing on theory.
In his lessons, students develop strong rhythmic skills, musical understanding, and creativity through a hands-on, immersive approach. He emphasizes the importance of musical exposure, encouraging students to listen widely and engage with music in a natural and meaningful way.
Mr. Tommaso creates a supportive and engaging environment where students are encouraged to explore, experiment, and build confidence as musicians. His approach helps students develop not only technical skills, but also a deeper connection to music.
Whether your child is just beginning their musical journey or continuing to build their skills, Mr. Tommaso brings energy, expertise, and encouragement to every lesson, creating a space where students feel inspired, confident, and connected.
