Club Music House FAQ

What is Club Music House?

Club MH is our non-classical concert, featuring our pop, jazz, and rock students! Musicians are accompanied by a live band made up of members of our Music House faculty.

Performances in past years have included fiddle ensembles, family bands, rock bands, musical theater performances, and pop piano groups.

Why perform at Club Music House?

One of the benefits of performing at Club Music House, specifically, is that students who may not have the opportunity to play with a group or band get that ensemble experience! Vocalists, pianists, guitarists who take private lessons and practice alone get to have the full band experience at Club Music House, with the teacher band accompanying them.

There are SO many other incredible benefits to performing:

  1. Performing builds confidence and teaches us that we can do hard things!

  2. Students learn the power of preparation, and the effects of putting in the work little by little every day (an important lesson that goes beyond the arts!)

  3. It releases “happy chemicals” and builds community. At performances, we show up not only for ourselves, but to support and encourage our peers!

  4. To CELEBRATE themselves and all the hard work they’ve done!! Progress can be hard to see when we’re IN it. Performances are opportunities to step back and show off what we’ve learned.

How can I prepare for Club Music House?

  1. Attend the rehearsal with the Music House teacher band. This will be your opportunity to communicate tempo and musical cues just like a professional performer!

  2. Practice performing by playing in front of people and in a variety of settings, listening to recordings of your song, and playing along with the recordings so you know the band part, not just the melody.

  3. Take a deep breath and walk up on stage knowing that you will do your best no matter what!
