Are you Ready to Hit the Stage?

We're less than a month away..

From our annual production of The Nutcracker Ballet! We have been watching our students work so hard in class and in rehearsal and cannot wait to share this special performance with our community!

Dancers, are you ready to hit the stage? Take a look at this performance checklist for tips, tricks, and new ideas to make performance day easy breezy!

The week before...

Drink a lot of water the week before the show

It is so important to keep your body and muscles hydrated, especially when you are attending extra rehearsals. Keeping a water bottle in your dance bag will ensure that you don't get dehydrated. Staying hydrated also prevents foot cramps. Very important for a ballerina!

Take 5 minutes before bed each night and stretch

Let's face it, ballet performance is very demanding! It is important that you take care of your body as you prepare to perform so that you are in tip top shape on show day. Stretching for a couple of minutes every day will help relax and lengthen your muscles!

At the theater...

Nervous to go onstage? Listen to a song that makes you smile!

We all get the pre performance jitters, its completely normal! To help shake them, put your headphones in and listen to a song that you love to dance to. A little free dance will help you shake some of the nerves out and will put you in the perfect mood to dazzle onstage.

Do your hair and makeup at home before going to the theater

This tip is huge and will help you save time at the theater. Unexpected things come up like last minute rehearsals onstage, notes with your teacher, or photo ops. Having your hair and makeup done early will keep your day at the theater stress free!

There's no such thing as too much backup

It's always a good idea to have extras on hand just in case they're needed. Extra tights, a spare pair of shoes, extra hair pins. You may even save your friend's day! Stowing some backups in your dance bag is always a good idea.

Put your best foot forward!

You've been working so hard for this and now it is time to ENJOY your hard work. Have fun onstage and know that everyone in the audience WANTS you to do a good job! We get it, performing can be a bit scary, but just remember that the audience is there because they are proud of you. And you should be proud of yourself!
