A Letter From Our Family to Yours
Dear Esteemed Music House Families,
With the news that CPS will be closed until April 20 and many of us required to stay in, we have been thinking about how to best serve our families, teachers, and staff in a way that is fair, thoughtful, and empathetic to the needs of everyone. Music House is a family-run business, here to serve our families, especially right now. We have a strong community that we cherish. We would like to continue serving you with online lessons and classes!
We have heard from many of our families who have lost a means of income during this crisis. We have heard from families who feel fortunate to be able to continue to work and maintain their income. We have heard from so many of you with kind, encouraging and thoughtful words as we worked to move to an online platform. Thank you for your support and thank you for being with us virtually during this time! We want to continue your children's lessons going forward and help to provide a sense of structure, routine, and engagement through our new online classroom.
During this time of emergency, we want to recognize that this is not easy for you or your student at home for many reasons. Loss of income while supporting a family is scary. Working from home while managing your children's learning and well-being can be challenging and trying! Our hearts go out to all. We want to help the best we can.
If you are unable to continue paying your monthly tuition or need a reduced tuition, please fill out this form before April 1 so that we can make sure that your monthly tuition is adjusted or waived while closures are in place. We want you to be able to continue learning and will not drop you from classes. We will check in again before May 1 to ask again if you are in need of free or reduced tuition. There is no need to drop. Stay with us and enjoy what is to come online!
At this time, we will be physically closed (but virtually open!) through at least April 12. We will continue to provide updates as they become available. Per our 2019-2020 calendar, all classes and lessons are not held April 6-12 during the originally planned Spring Break (see below for free “spring break” virtual programming!)
We would like to continue running online programming as we have been for the past week and continue serving our families regardless of your ability to pay. Our teachers and staff are an essential and important part of our family and we want to keep them on payroll. If you are able to pay, even at a discounted rate, we thank you for helping to support our teachers and our families who are not in the position to afford online programming right now.
In addition to classes you are enrolled in, we will begin offering free weekly online workshops for all Music House families free of charge.
For all school outreach students: In addition to video classes, we would like to set up free weekly 15 minute private lessons with your child's teacher on zoom. Please use this form to get scheduled!
CPS Spring Break was scheduled for April 6-10. We have cancelled Music House's Spring Break Camp. If you are enrolled for the camp held at our location you will be receiving a full refund. We are planning a free "Virtual Spring Break Camp!" during this week instead! Fun at home with Music House...Join us for free daily online music, art, dance, and more workshops - stay tuned for schedule!
Everything at this moment is, of course, happening as we go. There are so many unknowns! Music House is committed to our families to offer arts to everyone, regardless of your income or employment status. We are all in this together, solving each problem as it arises and will continue to take a solutions based approach to our new online learning platform. We will make every effort to continue to support our community and work together to keep arts alive. In order for this to be financially viable, we do need families to consider paying, if possible. We will follow up once we have heard from everyone. Please help us make this work and keep Music House going!!
